What Is A Healthy Diet? The Simple Truth Finally Revealed

Jose Bautista • August 23, 2009

Are you ready to make healthier food decisions and get in shape but are confused about what a healthy diet really consists of? Don’t worry if you are because millions of other people are in the same position. With so many diet books and programs storming your brain with conflicting information, it is no wonder that so many people are confused on how to eat healthy.

Fortunately, eating for health and longevity doesn’t have to be that complicated. You don’t have to throw hundreds of dollars a week on specially grown organic foods and you definitely do not have to pay top dollar for frozen, prepackaged diet foods to be delivered to your door.

Eating for health doesn’t even mean you give up everything that tastes good or has calories and fat. You don’t have to deprive yourself! Healthy eating simply requires you to eat the foods that will give your body the most nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that it needs to function.

So, what are we really talking about here? What are the basic components of any healthy eating plan?

Let’s begin with one category of food that has all but been demonized in today’s diet industry: the carbohydrate. Severely limiting this powerful energy resource can have negative consequences, but so can filling up on sugary treats and white refined carbs. The trick is to pick nutritious carb sources.

Healthy carbs that will deliver more energy than fat stores happen to be lower in calories and way lower in fat than unhealthy carb options. Think of switching to 100% whole grain/wheat pasta, cereal, bread, and rice. Go for lots of vegetables and fruits as well.

Combine those healthy carb choices with lean meats such as chicken and turkey breasts and some healthy fat sources such as extra virgin olive oil, and you are on your way to a healthy diet that will make you skinny, vibrant, and keep your entire body more youthful.
